Plaintiff had been employed by Defendant as a paralegal since March of 1988. In December of 1989, at the age of 41 years, he was terminated from that position.

Settlement Discussions

Defendant contends that they offered between $50,000 and $75,000 and Plaintiff demanded $300,000 with an indication of $200,000 and thereafter $125,000. Defendant also contends that Plaintiff's initial demand was $3,000,000. Plaintiff contends that no offer was made by Defendant until the settlement conference; Defendant indicated it was on the verge of bankruptcy and there was no insurance coverage; the initial demand was $300,000; and the case settled at $62,500 with an $85,000 stipulated judgment against Defendant.
