Facts
On November 11, 1992, Plaintiff, a 28-year-old graduate student, was a passenger in her vehicle being driven by Defendant driver no. 1 travelling north on the 805 freeway. Defendant driver no. 2's vehicle had stalled in Plaintiff's lane as a result of having run out of gas. Defendant driver no. 1 did not see Defendant driver no. 2's vehicle and rear ended it at 15 mph. Defendant driver no. 3's vehicle struck the Plaintiff's vehicle from behind at 45 mph. Defendant driver no. 3 was employed by another Defendant. Plaintiff's vehicle was pushed into the stalled vehicle and to center divider.
Settlement Discussions
Plaintiff demanded $ 550,000 and Defendants offered $175,000.

Injuries
A spinal fracture at T 11-12 requiring a posterolateral fusion from T10 through L-1 (four level) with segmental spinal rodding and fixation, and a partial facetectomy/laminectomy on the left side at T 11-12. Plaintiff will require additional surgery to remove the rods.
