Facts

During the years 1991 and 1992, the plaintiff, a 44-year-old waitress and fishery worker, presented to her doctor for a series of pap smears. The defendant pathology laboratory misdiagnosed the plaintiff's pap smears, resulting in a 24-month delay in diagnosis of her cervical cancer. The plaintiff underwent a hysterectomy. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant laboratory based on a medical malpractice theory of recovery.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a settlement demand for $620,000. The defendant accepted.

Injuries

The plaintiff underwent a radical hysterectomy and suffers residual bowel and bladder dysfunction.

Other Information
