Facts

On Aug. 23, 1994, the plaintiff, a 24-year-old painter, was traveling southbound on Sepulveda Blvd. The defendant driver, operating an 18-wheeler truck, was making a left-turn into the Getty Center Museum, which was under construction. The defendant made an illegal left-turn in front of the plaintiff's vehicle, causing a collision. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendants, the driver and his employer, based on negligence and respondeat superior theories of recovery.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a settlement demand for $69,000. After several settlement negotiations, the case settled for $55,000.
