Facts

On the morning of Jan. 8, 1997, the walkway leading up to the defendant restaurant in Lancaster was steam cleaned by defendant cleaner. That morning, the temperature was freezing with lows in the low 20 degrees. The steam became a sheet of ice creating a dangerous walking surface. The plaintiff, a 69-year-old retiree, noted the "Caution When Wet" signs, but had no idea that she was about to walk onto a sheet of ice. The plaintiff slipped and fell, sustaining injuries.
