Facts

The decedent, an elderly male, was riding his bicycle in the roadway when he was struck from the rear by a large delivery truck driven by the defendant, who was in the course and scope of his employment. The decedent was transported to the hospital where it was determined he was rendered a quadriplegic from the accident. He remained hospitalized for several weeks but finally died from his injuries. The decedent was unmarried with no children. The plaintiffs were his adult brother and sister. The police officers who investigated the accident concluded that the decedent was at fault in the accident.
