Facts

The plaintiff was employed as a cosmetologist at a salon owned by the defendant Company X and managed by
co-defendant Y. After taking two yearÆs off work, the plaintiff resumed her employment at the salon and under
the supervision of the co-defendant Y. Soon after the plaintiffÆs resumption of employment, the plaintiff began
to date the ex-spouse of the co-defendant Y.
Co-defendant Y allegedly began to make racial epithets to the plaintiff both in the
workplace and at her home after the plaintiff married defendant YÆs ex-spouse. The plaintiffÆs
employment was terminated but the alleged harassment continued. The plaintiff asserted
harassment and wrongful termination based upon national origin.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made an offer to settle the case at $350,000. The defendants offered $20,000.
