Facts
While attempting to merge with freeway traffic on the 110 freeway, northbound, in downtown Los
Angeles, the plaintiffÆs vehicle was struck by the defendantÆs vehicle from the rear. The plaintiffÆs
vehicle was travelling between 5 and 10 mph. The plaintiffÆs accident reconstructionist placed the
defendantÆs vehicle at a speed of 15 to 20 mph faster than the rate at which the plaintiffÆs vehicle
was traveling. The defendantÆs vehicle flipped on its side after the collision due to its speed and
angle of impact, the plaintiff was injured.

Injuries
The plaintiff alleged that she sustained soft tissue injuries to her back and neck. Additionally, the plaintiff claimed wrist trauma and median nerve damage to both wrists from hyper flexion of the wrists or excessive load imposed upon the wrists. The plaintiff contended that this injury precipitated the onset of carpal tunnel syndrome, which occurred three to four months later. The plaintiff contended that both of her breast implants were also ruptured from the impact. The plaintiff alleged that she required surgery to alleviate her bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome as well as surgery to remove and replace her ruptured breast implants.
