Ani Avetisyan sued Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP following Avetisyan's termination from her employment with the law firm.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff previously worked for defendant as an attorney. She sued the law firm after her firing, alleging 16 causes of action, including, inter alia, defamation/slander, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, economic and contractual interference, and others.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff was allegedly hired as an at-will associate and was fired for suboptimal performance. Defendant demurred most of her causes of actions, which were sustained. The only two remaining causes of action were intentional misrepresentation and negligent misrepresentation. Defendant moved for summary judgment with respect to the remaining claims.

Result

The court granted the law firm's motion for summary judgment.
