Facts
Plaintiff worked for Hewlett Packard Enterprises as a Business Analyst III for the help desk team. Plaintiff filed suit against her former employer after she was terminated.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF’S CONTENTIONS: Following a diagnosis of microscopic colitis, plaintiff requested to work from home. Her request was denied and she was subsequently terminated. Plaintiff contended that she was terminated due to her request for an accommodation of her disability.
Plaintiff sued HP, asserted causes of action for failure to provide a reasonable accommodation, failure to engage in the interactive process, failure to prevent discrimination, wrongful termination in violation of public policy, and disability discrimination.
DEFENDANT’S CONTENTIONS: Defendant contended in its motion for summary judgment that plaintiff was terminated for a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason. Namely, due to a company workforce reduction that eliminated her position.
Result
The court granted defendant’s motion.
