Facts

Plaintiff, a California prisoner, filed a pro se civil rights complaint pursuant to 42 U.S.C. Section 1983.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendants violated his First Amendment right to meaningful access to the courts. Specifically, he argued that when he was transferred to another facility, defendants failed to timely release his personal property to him, including certain court documents. As a result, plaintiff was unable to timely file an appeal relating to an underlying dental malpractice action.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants contended that they were entitled to qualified immunity.

Result

The court granted defendants' motions to dismiss with prejudice.
