Facts
Christopher Morey sued Sooren Karayan M.D., Glendale Adventist Medical Center and others, involving allegations of medical malpractice.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff was admitted to Glendale Adventist from May 5 to May 8, 2014, for revision of a total left hip replacement performed in December 2013. Dr. Karayan performed the surgery on May 5. Plaintiff allegedly developed pressure ulcers during his hospital stay and sued defendants for medical malpractice.
Plaintiff also alleged that defendants negligently examined, diagnosed, cared, treated, and performed surgery on him and failed to obtain his consent.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Glendale Adventist moved for summary judgment, alleging that plaintiff's complaint lacked merit because defendants complied with the applicable standard of care at all times. Defendant also contended that plaintiff's claim for lack of informed consent lacks merit because Glendale Adventist had no duty to obtain plaintiff's consent.
Result
The court granted Glendale Adventist Medical Center's motion for summary judgment.
