Gevorg Haroutunyan, through his guardian, sued CHA Hollywood Medical Center LP dba Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Haroutunyan claimed that he sustained deep tissue injuries after being placed on BiPAP therapy at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. Haroutunyan contended that the respiratory therapists failed to properly monitor the BiPAP mask, and, as a result, Haroutunyan sustained a deep tissue injury on his nose. Haroutunyan further argued that hospital staff did not reposition him in a timely manner and failed to keep him clean. Haroutunyan claimed he sustained injuries on his back as a result.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant argued that it took appropriate measures to prevent Haroutunyan's injuries and offered Haroutunyan the best care.

Settlement Discussions

Plaintiff made a demand for $750,000. Defendant made an offer of $250,000.

Damages

Haroutunyan sought general and punitive damages.

Injuries

Haroutunyan suffered from pressure sores on his nose and back.
