On Feb. 3, 2014, plaintiff David Young, 33, rode his bicycle across an intersection in a crosswalk, when he was hit by a pick-up truck driven by defendant Grant Hunner, who was making a right turn.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff claimed defendant was negligent in the operation of his vehicle.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant alleged that plaintiff was riding outside the intersection, and on the wrong side of the street.

Settlement Discussions

Plaintiff demanded $25,000. Defendant offered $7,607.

Injuries

Plaintiff suffered scaphoid fracture, diagnosed seven months later.

Result

The jury found for the plaintiff and awarded him $350,000 ($245,000 net), which includes judgment in the amount of $259,941, plus interest of at least $46,932, and costs of $14,941.
