Yan Kay and Juan Carlos sued the County of Los Angeles in relation to a vehicle collision.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that a county fire department employee was operating a fire engine when the employee collided with Carlos' vehicle. As a result, Carlos' vehicle collided with Kay's vehicle.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: The fire department disputed the extent of plaintiff's injuries.
Injuries
Yan complained of neck and back pain. Carlos sustained a two-inch laceration to his head, which required stitches. Carlos also sustained multiple minor lacerations and bruising to his arms and legs.
Result
The parties settled for $292,500. The settlement amount included $55,000 for Kay and $237,500 for Carlos. Yan's $55,000 settlement is in addition to the $25,000 insurance policy limit he received from the other party's insurance.
