Orange County Water District filed a complaint against Chevron USA and Union Oil Co. of California in relation to drinking water contamination.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: The Water District contended that defendants released gasoline containing the additive methyl tertiary butul ether at gasoline service stations, which contaminated drinking water within its district.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied the contentions.

Result

The parties reached a settlement agreement. Defendants agreed to pay $11 million.
