Facts
Antoinette Kalanjian filed an application for supplementary security income benefits pursuant to Title XVI, which was denied both initially and on reconsideration. Kalanjian then requested a hearing before an administrative law judge. The ALJ determined that Kalanjian was not disabled and denied her application for benefits. Kalanjian filed suit against Nancy Berryhill seeking judicial review of the denial.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that the ALJ erred in failing to categorize her mental impairments as severe, and that the ALJ failed to give appropriate weight to various medical opinions of her physical and mental impairments.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: The defendant contended that the ALJ did not deny plaintiff's application for benefits by finding that her mental health impairments were not severe and that the ALJ properly considered the various medical opinions included in the record and gave a reasoned explanation for giving more weight to certain opinions and less weight to others.
Result
The court affirmed the defendant's decision in denying plaintiff's application for benefits and finding that plaint was not disabled.
