Aldred and Jessy Zaklit filed a class action lawsuit against Nationstar Mortgage in relation to customer calls.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that they spoke to Nationstar agents about personal and confidential financial information and Nationstar recorded those conversations without their knowledge or permission. Plaintiffs claimed they had no reasonable expectation that the calls were being recorded, which violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied that it violated the Invasion of Privacy Act.

Result

The parties reached a settlement agreement. Nationstar agreed to pay $6.5 million to settle the claims.
