Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Ruiz contended that Sanders rear-ended the vehicle behind him, which caused that vehicle to rear-end Ruiz's vehicle. Plaintiff contended that Sanders was negligent and Block Island Remodeling was vicariously liable for the acts of its employees.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: The defendants admitted liability.
Result
The defendants stipulated to negligence being a substantial factor in Ruiz's harm. The jury found that Ruiz's damages amounted to $696,250, which included $61,250 in past medical cost, $135,000 in future medical cost, $350,000 in past non-economic damages, and $150,000 in future non-economic damages.
