Facts
Hezeng Zhang, 77, was walking across the street in an unmarked crosswalk in the City of Folsom when a left turning vehicle operated by defendant Nancy Lew struck him, causing him fatal injuries. Plaintiff Ge Chang was decedent's adult daughter and lived with her father for approximately six months out of the year.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff claimed that defendant was 100 percent liable for the death of the decedent as she failed to see him at any point before striking the decedent with her car while making her left turn.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant disputed liability. Defendant claimed from the point that he entered the street it would have been apparent to the decedent that defendant was making a turn, yet he failed to see her and did not stop or take evasive measures which would have prevented the collision.
An independent witness told the investigating officer and testified at his deposition that It appeared to them that neither party saw each other before the collision.

Plaintiff claimed loss of her father's love, companionship, comfort, care, assistance, protection, affection, society, moral support and training and guidance.
Result
The case settled for $1,750,000.
