Facts

Dina Richardson filed a class action against Interstate Hotels & Resorts Inc. and Interstate Management Co. LLC in relation to defendants' employment practices.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs alleged defendants did not allow employee meal and rest periods, did not pay minimum and overtime wages, failed to provide accurate itemized wage statements, and failed to pay all wages due upon separation. Plaintiffs also claimed defendants underpaid employees by rounding time punches to the quarter-hour, and pressured employees to work off the clock and through meal and rest periods without compensation.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied the allegations.

Result

The parties reached a settlement agreement under which defendants agreed to pay $800,000 into a settlement fund for plaintiffs' benefit. Class counsel will receive $200,000 in attorney's fees and $115,861.22 in unreimbursed expenses from defendants.
