Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Carillo contended that his vehicle was broadsided by Flores' vehicle as he entered an intersection. Carillo claimed he sustained injuries as a result of Flores' negligence.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Flores admitted fault but disputed the extent of Carillo's injuries.

Result

The jury returned a verdict in favor of Carillo and found that Flores' negligence was a substantial factor in causing Carillo's harm. As a result, it awarded $131,897 in damages to Carillo, $24,477 in past medical costs, $38,000 in future medical costs, $30,000 in past non-economic damages, and $39,420 in future non-economic damages.
