Facts

Plaintiff Joey Chan Ma sought judicial review of an Administrative Law Judge's decision denying his application for disability benefits under the Social Security Act.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff alleged that the administrative law judge failed to consider his ailments and impairments under section 1.04 Appendix 1 of the Social Security Act. Plaintiff contended that the ALJ focused on whether his mental ailments were met but failed to focus on his physical impairments.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied plaintiff's allegations and contended that the ALJ's analysis of plaintiff's mental impairment was supported by the record.

Result

The court found that the ALJ did not adequately consider whether Ma's impairments met the criteria listed in section 1.04 of the Appendix and did not provide adequate reasons for rejecting Ma's disability benefits.
