Edwin Hardeman filed a lawsuit against Monsanto Company in relation to its weed killer product, Roundup.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Hardeman contended that defendant failed to warn that its product, Roundup, could cause cancer. Hardeman additionally contended that defendant was aware of its product's carcinogenic properties but continued to promote it as safe.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied the contentions.

Result

The jury rendered a verdict in favor of Hardeman and awarded him $80,267,634.10, which included $200,967 in economic damages, $3,066,667 in past non-economic damages, $2 million in future non-economic damages, and $75 million in punitive damages.
