Facts

Ki Chong Lee and Harold Choo filed suit against the County of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department in relation to a vehicular collision that took place on Feb. 15, 2015, between Deputy Sheriff Mark Vencer and plaintiffs.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that they were injured as a result of a vehicular collision that was caused by Deputy Sheriff Vencer's failure to yield to oncoming traffic while making a left turn.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants' investigation concluded that although the deputy sheriff caused the collision, no administrative misconduct occurred.

Result

The parties reached a settlement agreement, with defendants agreeing to pay $350,000 total to settle plaintiffs' claims. The settlement payment was to be divided, with Harold Choo receiving $180,000 and Ki Chong Lee receiving $170,000.
