Amy Chamberlin filed a lawsuit against BioLite Inc. in relation to its BioLite Biofuel Pellets.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Chamberlin contended that defendant's product exposes people to Wood Dust, which is a chemical known in the State of California, to cause cancer. Chamberlin contended that defendant failed to provide clear and reasonable warnings under Proposition 65.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied the contentions.

Result

The parties entered into a consent judgment. Under its terms, defendant agreed to provide clear and reasonable warnings and additionally agreed to pay $12,500 for civil penalties and $45,000 for Chamberlin's attorney fees.
