A class of indirect purchasers filed an antitrust class action against Panasonic Corp., Nichison Corp., ELNA America, and Matsuo Electric Co. Ltd. in relation to capacitors, which are found in most electronic devices.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs claimed that defendants conspired to fix, raise, maintain or stabilize the prices of capacitors.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied the contentions.

Result

The plaintiffs and the named defendants entered into a settlement agreement. Nichison agreed to pay $21.5 million, Panasonic agreed to pay $4.7 million, ELNA agreed to pay $2.25 million and Matsuo agreed to pay $2.5 million, totaling approximately $31 million.
