Facts

Lauren Reeves filed suit against Hologram USA Inc., Alki David Productions Inc., and Alkiviades David in relation to David's behavior and actions toward her while she was employed by Hologram, a company owned by David.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Reeves alleged that David touched her inappropriately and committed numerous acts of sexual harassment toward her while she was employed with Hologram.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: David denied the allegations and contended that he was being victimized as part of a conspiracy against him.

Damages

Reeves sought $14 million in damages and argued that she should be awarded $1 million for each of fourteen instances of harassment or assault.

Injuries

Reeves claimed that she suffered physical pain and mental suffering due to David's actions, and she incurred medical expenses as a result.

Result

The jury returned a verdict in favor of Reeves. The jury awarded $650,000 in compensatory damages, comprised of $300,000 for past physical pain and mental suffering, $250,000 for future non-economic loss and mental suffering, and $100,000 for past and future medical expenses. In addition, the jury awarded $4.35 million in punitive damages, bringing the total to $5 million.
