Facts

Maria Gutierrez filed suit against the County of Los Angeles in relation to a vehicular collision between a Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff and her vehicle on May 18, 2017 on Interstate 710 near Atlantic Boulevard in Bell.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Gutierrez alleged that her vehicle was rear-ended by a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Deputy Sheriff while driving south on Interstate 710 near Atlantic Boulevard in Bell. Gutierrez alleged that she sustained injuries as a result of the collision and asserted that the Deputy negligently operated the vehicle. Gutierrez contended that the County was liable under respondeat superior.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: The County disputed the allegations.

Result

The County of Los Angeles agreed to pay $75,000 to settle Gutierrez's claims.
