Facts

A group of security guards filed a class action lawsuit against their employer, formerly known as the Wackenhut Corporation, over wage and hour issues. The Wackenhut Corporation is now known as G4S Secure Solutions USA.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that defendant refused to grant them proper meal and rest breaks from 2001 to 2010. Plaintiffs also contended that defendant failed to provide them accurate wage statements.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied any and all liability and wrongdoing. Defendant contended that it complied with all state and federal laws regarding meal periods, rest breaks, wage statements, and timely payment of wages.

Result

The parties reached a court approved settlement under which Wackenhut agreed to pay $130 million.
