Facts
William L. Milburn filed a putative class action lawsuit against Petsmart, Inc. over alleged wage and hour violations.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that defendant misclassified their employment status as exempt from overtime laws and meal and rest breaks laws. Plaintiffs asserted causes of action for failure to pay overtime, failure to pay regular and minimum wages, failure to provide meal and rest periods, failure to provide accurate wage statements, and failure to timely pay wages during employment and upon separation.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant contended its classifications were proper. Defendant contended that since it properly classified the employees, it did not deny them overtime or meal break periods.
Result
The parties entered into a $1,350,000 settlement agreement.
