Ellen Berman, Dayana Gauch, and similarly situated consumers filed a lawsuit against General Motors, LLC over problems associated with their 2010-2017 model Chevrolet Equinox automobiles.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that their Chevy Equinox engines consumed an abnormally high amount of motor oil, causing engine failure. Plaintiffs also contended that the engine safety light, which was supposed to alert them to engine failure, failed to work properly.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant contended that the engines consumed oil in an acceptable range and the safety light was not defective.
Result
The parties agreed to a $42 million settlement.
