Facts
Rick Frieri filed a putative class action lawsuit against Sysco Corporation and Sysco San Diego, Inc. in relation to the Sysco entities' employment and compensation practices.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Frieri contended that he and other non-exempt truck drivers employed by defendants were required to perform certain duties during their meal breaks such that defendants did not provide a duty free meal period to employees as required by California law. Frieri also alleged that Sysco San Diego's collective bargaining agreement, which stated its rest policy, did not provide for adequate rest periods under California law.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied Frieri's allegations.
Result
Defendants agreed to pay $800,000 to settle Frieri's claims.
