Facts
Plaintiffs the City and County of San Francisco and the People of the State of California filed a lawsuit against Fidelis Cybersecurity, Inc., Maarek Zalatimo, an employee of Fidelis, and his wife Heather Zalatimo, an employee of San Francisco Department of Public Health, alleging that the sale of products to the City was in violation of conflict of interest laws, in violation of the Political Reform Act, and in violation of the San Francisco Campaign and Governmental Conduct Code.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended defendants knowingly participated in, and aided and abetted the City's purchase for San Francisco Department of Public Health of more than $1 million of Fidelis software and services despite a known conflict of interest resulting from Heather Zalatimo's marriage to Maarek Zalatimo.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied the contentions.
Result
The case settled for $850,978 and the city was to return the hardware purchased from Fidelis within 30 days.
