Facts
Darryl Roberts filed an employment discrimination claim after he was terminated by his employer, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 648.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant terminated him because of his race. Plaintiff also contended that defendant prevented him from running for higher union office because of his race.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant contended that plaintiff was terminated not on account of his race, but because plaintiff chose to run against defendant union's president in the union election. Defendant contended that this demonstrated what the employer termed gross disloyalty.
Result
The court sustained defendant's motion for summary judgment.
