Plaintiff Shokoufeh Azima was an employee of defendant CSI Medical Group, a dermatologic surgery practice owned by Greg Morganroth. Plaintiffs on behalf of other similarly situated employees filed a Private Attorneys General Act class action lawsuit against defendant for wage and hour violations.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that CSI failed to properly compensate plaintiffs for overtime pay while they were employed at CSI. Plaintiffs also contended that they were not able to take rest breaks and meal breaks due to their busy work schedules. Plaintiffs contended that defendant did not provide accurate wage statements and failed to reimburse plaintiffs for products plaintiffs purchased to perform their job.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied plaintiff's contentions.
Result
The court preliminary approved a class settlement in the amount of $615,000. A net settlement of $350,000 will be distributed to individual class members.
