Facts

Plaintiff J.C., a minor, and her parents Mary Pegler and Richard Cote, filed suit against Department of Children and Family Services social workers Malika Edmonson and her supervisor, Imelda Santos alleging that the social workers wrongfully detained J.C.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs asserted a violation of their civil rights stemming from an incident where defendants wrongfully detained J.C. Plaintiffs also contended defendants presented false statements in a detention report, which supported the continued unwarranted detention of J.C.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied the contentions.

Result

The parties agreed to settle for $25,000.
