Facts
A class of consumers asserted claims against Google over unauthorized exposure of consumer data through the Google plus platform.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that Google improperly failed to protect plaintiffs' personal information that was stored in Google's social network because software bugs exposed that information to third party app developers.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied that plaintiffs had stated a claim and in particular that they suffered an injury.
Result
As Google's motion to dismiss was pending, the parties reached a $7.5 million classwide settlement agreement, which received preliminary approval from the court.
