Plaintiff Donald Kunstt, a formerly incarcerated inmate at North County Correctional Facility, filed a lawsuit against Defendant County of Los Angeles alleging federal civil rights violations.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended Defendants purposely ignored Plaintiff when he informed deputies that he had a restraining order against another inmate, who was locked up in the same location as Plaintiff. Plaintiff contended as a result, he was involved an altercation with the inmate. Plaintiff further contended Defendant breached its duty of care and violated Plaintiff's federal civil rights when Defendant failed to ensure Plaintiff was not subjected to personal injuries while incarcerated in Defendant's care. Plaintiff further contended Defendant subjected Plaintiff to cruel and unusual punishment.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied the contentions and further denied any wrongdoing.
Result
The parties agreed to settle for $50,000.
