Facts

Loran Candelas was a City of Cathedral police force dispatcher. While at a police conference, Candelas alleged the police chief assaulted her. Candelas further alleged months of inappropriate sexual behavior by him. Candelas was subsequently placed on leave and sued the city and the police chief.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant subjected her to sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and battery. Defendants were also negligent in preventing plaintiff's exposure to such a hostile environment.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied Candelas' contentions.

Injuries

Loran Candelas suffered from emotional distress and sought damages for emotional pain and suffering.

Result

The parties entered a $500,000 settlement agreement.
