Facts

On behalf of the People of the State of California, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office filed a civil law enforcement action and obtained a stipulated preliminary injunction against KNature Co. Inc., doing business as Insan Healing Inc. and its CEO who allegedly advertised and sold a radish paste as an unapproved Covid-19 cure or treatment without FDA approval and in violation of rules and regulations governing the sale of medical drugs in California.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: The People contended that defendants were falsely advertising and selling radish plate as a cure or treatment for Covid-19 in violation of federal and state law.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all contentions (with the exception of jurisdictional facts).

Result

Under the settlement, defendants agreed to a permanent injunction to end the false marketing of the radish paste as cure or treatment for Covid-19, to pay civil penalties of $20,000, and to pay full restitution of approximately $9,000 in the form of refunds to consumers who purchased the radish paste during the time period that the radish paste was falsely advertised as a Covid cure.
