Facts

On the morning of Feb. 21, 2018 plaintiffs Ivan Acosta and Veronica Barajas were completing a list of errands together, with stops to make throughout Vacaville and Fairfield in Solano County. As they were proceeding southbound on Peabody Road in Fairfield, defendant Gene William Baker, an employee of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, suddenly turned a district-owned box truck directly in plaintiffs' path.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended defendant drove the district-owned box truck negligently causing plaintiffs to suffer permanent and life-altering injuries.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied the contentions.

Injuries

Plaintiffs Ivan Acosta and Veronica Barajas suffered severe and permanent injuries. Veronica suffered a mild TBI and Ivan required an open reduction and internal fixation and lumbar fusion surgery.

Result

The case settled for $3.5 million.
