Facts
On November 5, 2016, David Khoury was driving his motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a fire truck operated by Darren Walker. Khoury was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered neck and back injuries. Subsequently, Khoury sued Walker and Walker's employers, the county of Los Angeles, the city of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, seeking damages for his medical costs and past and future pain and suffering.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that Walker was negligent in operating the fire truck and remaining defendants were vicariously liable for his actions.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied that they were negligent and claimed that plaintiff was negligent by driving at an excessive speed at the time of the collision.
Result
The case settled for $175,000.
