Joyce Walker, Kim Bruce Howlett, Muriel Spooner, Taline Bedelian, and Oscar Guevara filed a class action suit on behalf of all persons who purchased policies from Life Insurance Company of the Southwest between September 2006 and April 2014, alleging violations of California's Unfair Competition Law.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that defendant engaged in unlawful and unfair business practices by failing to define terms and column headings and by misleading consumers, causing major economic loss to plaintiffs.

DEFENDANT CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all allegations.

Result

The case settled for $1,500,000.
