Facts

Sameedyyah Alexander-Diaz suffered injuries when she fell in a culvert at the intersection of North Sierra Highway and Avenue G, in Lancaster, California. Plaintiff fell into an unmarked, unguarded drainage culvert, landing at the base thereof near a corrugated metal drainage pipe. Alexander-Diaz brought an action against the County of Los Angeles for her injuries alleging that the location constituted a dangerous condition of public property.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended defendant caused her injuries because the culvert, a public property owned by defendant, was in a dangerous condition.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all of the contentions.

Injuries

Plaintiff suffered from a lacerated liver, neck pain, chest pain, bilateral shoulder pain, back pain, headaches, and blurry vision.

Result

The parties agreed to settle for $95,000.
