Facts

Plaintiff Jose Urena filed a class action lawsuit against his former employer, Central California Almond Growers Association, for federal and state wage and hour claims. The Central California Almond Growers Association is a nonprofit, grower-owned cooperative. It is the largest sheller and huller of almonds in the world with 453 members farming more than 42,000 acres of almonds.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs alleged that defendant violated several federal and state labor laws regarding: meal and rest periods; unpaid wages; unfair, unlawful and fraudulent business practice; and other derivative claims.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

Result

The parties settled for $375,000.
