Facts

Cyndi Marie Boulton was 44 years old when she allegedly experienced an onset disability that made it impossible to complete her past relevant work as an order clerk, home attendant, and administrative clerk. On July 3, 2017, she filed an application for disability insurance benefits but was denied on August 31, 2017. She requested and received a hearing and appeared at the hearing with counsel. However, the assigned Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) denied her claim on October 17, 2019, since he found that she was capable of performing her past relevant work as a home attendant and administrative clerk. The Appeals Council denied her subsequent request for review on May 29, 2020. Boulton then filed a complaint against Kilolo Kijakazi, the commissioner of the Social Security Administration during the relevant time, seeking review of the denial of the disability insurance benefits.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that she suffered from a bulging disc, uncontrollable diabetes, nerve damage in her left leg, asthma, and high cholesterol that made her unable to complete the past relevant work. Plaintiff also alleged that the ALJ impermissibly rejected her subjective symptom testimony and failed to provide a legally sufficient rationale for rejecting her testimony pertaining to her alleged impairments. Plaintiff further maintained that the ALJ failed to connect any specific portion of her testimony to the parts of the record supporting the ALJ's decision.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

Result

The court affirmed the decision of the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration to deny the disability insurance benefits.
