Facts

Castle & Cooke Aviation Services provides aircraft fueling and support services in California. On April 1, 2021, Eric Hernandez filed a class action complaint against Castle & Cooke Aviation Services alleging Labor Code and Private Attorneys General Act violations. The class included all individuals who were non-exempt employees of Castle & Cooke Aviation Services in California at any time from April 1, 2017, to July 13, 2022.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant failed to: provide rest breaks or provide pay premiums in lieu thereof, provide meal periods or pay premiums in lieu thereof, pay minimum and straight time wages, pay overtime compensation, reimburse all necessary business expenditures or losses incurred by the employee in direct consequence of the discharge of his duties, timely pay wages upon termination of employment, provide accurate statements, and maintain required codes for its non-exempt employees during the relevant time period. Further, plaintiff alleged that defendant engaged in an unfair business practices as a result of the violations.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

Result

Castle & Cooke Aviation Services agreed to pay $275,000.
