Facts

On February 13, 2020, Juvenal Vargas, individually and on behalf of all members of the settlement class, filed a class action complaint against Joe Carmona, alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included all current and former non-exempt employees of Joe Carmona dba JSJ Labor Service who performed work for Klink Citrus Association in California from February 13, 2016, through October 24, 2021. On September 15, 2020, the parties participated in settlement discussions with the Honorable Howard R. Broadman, retired. On August 25, 2021, the parties participated in a mediation discussion with mediator Mark Keppler, Esq.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff alleged that defendant failed to: reimburse for necessary business expenses, provide accurate, itemized wage statements, pay for all overtime wages, timely pay all wages due or final wages due, and provide compliant meal and rest periods or premiums in lieu of the periods. Further, plaintiff contended as a result of the violations, engaged in unlawful business practices.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

The parties settled the case for $237,500
