Facts
Dina Murillo worked as a General Manager for a Gold's Gym in Santa Barbara. On September 6, 2018, Murillo filed a lawsuit against Santa Barbara Corp. Fitness (Gold's Gym) and Angel Banos in Santa Barbara Superior alleging sexual harassment; failure to prevent sexual harassment; retaliation; wrongful discharge in violation of public policy; and failure to allow inspection of personnel file.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: According to plaintiff, despite her successful work performance, she was fired after reporting to upper management that Gold's Gym CEO, Angel Banos, sexually harassed her, other employees, and clients.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all material contentions, claiming that plaintiff brought the claims only after learning she would be let go for her poor performance. Moreover, defendants asserted that Banos acted appropriately at all times with plaintiff.
Result
The parties settled for $675,000.
